The Character of Jesus
A simple way of being formed through knowing Him
Becoming like Jesus does not begin with trying harder. It begins with paying attention to who He is.

This note invites you to sit with the character of Jesus — not to analyze it, not to imitate it perfectly, but to let closeness do its slow work.

You don’t need to work on every quality. You don’t need to constantly measure progress.

Start simple. Choose one. Notice it. Return when it’s helpful.

Love

Jesus,
You love without condition or withdrawal.
Let me receive that love before trying to reflect it.

Goodness

Jesus,
You are good — not demanding, not manipulative, but trustworthy.
Help me rest in Your goodness today.

Faithfulness

Jesus,
You are steady even when everything else shifts.
Help me rest in Your faithfulness.

Mercy

Jesus,
You move toward weakness with compassion.
Let me receive that mercy before offering it to others.

Kindness

Jesus,
Your kindness draws me, not fear.
Form gentleness in me over time.

Patience

Jesus, You are not rushed with me.
Slow me down into Your pace.

Compassion

Jesus,
You see suffering and do not turn away.
Help me stay present with what is hard.

Truth

Jesus,
You speak truth without cruelty.
Help me live honestly without hardness.

Gentleness

Jesus,
You lead with humility and quiet strength.
Shape my responses to look more like Yours.

Courage

Jesus,
You face what is costly without withdrawing love.
Give me courage that trusts You are near.

Justice

Jesus,
You care deeply about what is harmed and unjust.
Shape my heart to care without becoming hard.

Holiness

Jesus,
You are completely good and completely loving.
Draw me into a life set apart by love, not fear.

Wisdom

Jesus,
You see what I cannot.
Help me trust Your wisdom more than my own understanding.

Peace

Jesus,
You bring calm without denial.
Let Your peace settle my inner noise.

Faithful Presence

Jesus,
You do not leave when things become unclear.
Help me remain with You in uncertainty.

Forgiveness

Jesus,
You forgive freely and completely.
Help me live unburdened by the past.

Humility

Jesus,
You do not cling to power.
Teach me the freedom of not needing to prove myself.

Strength

Jesus,
Your strength is steady, not forceful.
Be my strength when I feel weak.

Faithfulness in Love

Jesus,
You never separate truth from love.
Let my life reflect that same wholeness.

Sit with Jesus
You are not asked to become clear overnight.

Formation happens through closeness, not pressure.

Return as often as you need.

Jesus is already at work.
