The Names of Jesus
A personal way of drawing near
Some people find it helpful to speak to Jesus using His names.
Each name reveals something about who He is—
and how you can come to Him.

Speaking His names helps shape how you trust Him,
how you approach Him, and
how you speak with Him.

You don’t need to use every name.
Start simple. Choose one. Sit with it.
Return when it’s helpful.

Friend

Jesus,
You call me friend — not from a distance, but from closeness.
Help me speak honestly with You today.

Immanuel

Jesus,
You are God with us — here, now, not far away.
Let me remember that You are already present.

Good Shepherd

Jesus,
You know my name and the paths I walk.
Lead me gently today.

Savior

Jesus,
I don’t need to save myself.
Help me trust what You have already done.

Redeemer

Jesus,
You meet me even in what feels broken.
Bring Your healing where I carry regret.

Advocate

Jesus,
You stand with me when I don’t know what to say or how to defend myself.
Help me rest in that.

Mediator

Jesus,
You make a way when I feel divided or far away.
Draw me near again.

Teacher

Jesus,
Teach me — not just with words, but with Your way of living.
Let me learn by walking with You.

Bread of Life

Jesus,
You are enough for today.
Help me receive what I need instead of striving for more.

Light of the World

Jesus,
Shine gently into what feels unclear.
I don’t need all the answers — just enough light for the next step.

Way, Truth, and Life

Jesus,
When I feel unsure where to go, be my way.
When I feel confused, be my truth.
When I feel tired, be my life.

Gate

Jesus,
You are the way in and the way through.
Help me trust You with where I’m going.

Cornerstone

Jesus,
Hold me steady when things feel unstable.
Help me build on what lasts.

Rock

Jesus,
Be my firmness when I feel shaken.
Let me rest my weight on You.

Faithful and True

Jesus,
You do not change with my moods or mistakes.
Help me trust Your steadiness today.

Sure Foundation

Jesus,
When I feel unsure of myself, remind me what I’m standing on.

Prince of Peace

Jesus,
Speak peace where my thoughts feel loud.
Let calm return to me.

Wonderful Counselor

Jesus,
Meet me with wisdom that is gentle, not rushed.
Help me listen.

Lamb of God

Jesus,
Thank You for carrying what I could not.
Let me live from grace today.

Word of God

Jesus,
You speak life into what feels empty.
Help me listen beyond noise.

I Am

Jesus,
You are enough — before I understand, before I improve, before I try again.

King of Kings

Jesus,
You reign without force and lead without fear.
Help me trust You with what I cannot control.

There is no right way to speak to Jesus.
If words come, let them come. If silence comes, let it stay.
The names are only here to draw you closer — not to carry.
Jesus is already listening.
