Jesus does not speak to us only in commands or teachings.
He speaks personally.
Throughout Scripture, one of the ways Jesus communicates love is by naming.
Not naming to control.
Not naming to pressure.
Naming to draw you near.
To name someone is to see them.
To call someone by name is to invite relationship.
Jesus says that He knows His people,
and that they know His voice when He calls them by name.
Sometimes He speaks our given name.
Sometimes He speaks names that tell us who we are to Him.
These are not titles to live up to.
They are words Jesus uses to steady us, comfort us, and keep us close.
The names aren’t meant to be read quickly.
It’s a place you return to when you need to be reminded that Jesus is calling.
A promise Jesus makes
Jesus tells us something tender and mysterious:
“I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.”
— Revelation 2:17 (NIV)
One day, Jesus will speak a name to you
that no one else hears the same way.
Until then, Scripture gives us many names Jesus already uses
to communicate love, belonging, and nearness.
You don’t need to accept all of them at once.
You’re invited to listen for the one He may be using today.
Names Jesus Uses to Speak to Us
You’re not being asked to take these in all at once.
You’re invited to slow down.
You might pause after one.
You might come back on another day.
The goal isn’t to master these words,
but to notice Jesus speaking with you.
Let these names be a gentle invitation
to rest in being known
and to return to Him again.

A simple way to sit with this
You don’t need to memorize these.
You don’t need to repeat them out loud.
You might simply choose one and say:
“Jesus, if this is how You speak to me, help me stay close today.”
That’s enough.
This is one gentle way of copying Jesus —
not adding effort,
but noticing His voice.
He is still calling.
And He is gentle.
Take this with you
